Ben
Hi, I’m Ben and I have been guiding for one third of my life! I spent seven years working as an outdoor instructor taking people up into the mountains and down rivers all over the world. I have worked in countries as diverse as Norway to the Philippines and yet I am always drawn back to Scotland. After injuring my knee four years ago I was forced to hang up my walking boots and swap mountain life to life in the city and have been guiding in either Edinburgh or Madrid ever since. Although I never studied history formally it is a subject I am passionate about and I very much look forward to showing you around what I think to be one of the greatest cities in Europe, Edinburgh.
Stefan
Stefan has lived in Edinburgh for over twenty years and is well acquainted with the city’s tales, lore and their murky origins. He is also a history student and currently training to become an archeologist. He has been a teacher, traveler, academic, writer and has visited many sites of historical interest across the world in his line of work. His passion for history is possibly only shadowed by his sense of humour!
Dove
Born in England, raised in France, Scottish at heart!
I first arrived in Scotland as a wide-eyed student and Edinburgh made an immediate impression upon me. After graduating in English, Spanish and International Relations, I travelled many places, though always felt drawn back here. My experience is one which continues to be shared every day by visitors to the city I now call my home but, as striking and as beautiful as it may be, it is the past five years of living here which has allowed me to become intimate with its nooks, crannies and many mysteries; and these continue to unfurl before me daily.
Having now worked diversely in tourism for three years, it was Edinburgh that compelled me to want to guide upon the streets and attempt to impart unto you what this city has confided in me – a unique and unforgettable story.
Luca
Hi, my name is Luca and although I don’t live on the second floor, I’d love to take you around this beautiful city I’ve come to call home. Edinburgh has something special to it. From South Africa, I traveled extensively for 5 years before I decided to finally settle down and there was no other choice for me, but this incredible city.
I’ve worked in some sort of tourism and guiding capacity for almost my entire working career. Starting on odd jobs like sales and pub crawls, then to coach tours in 82 European cities and finally into my favourite business model, the Free Tour. No other city can intertwine its history and folklore so well, yet always have such a strong intellectual importance as Edinburgh. It would be my pleasure to take you on a journey through these seemingly incohesive subjects.
